What is MiniDV HDV?

HDV is a high-definition tape format that offers 1080i resolution at 25 frames per second for the PAL system used in Australia, and Europe.

Standard DV only allows a recording definition resolution of 480i at 60 frames per second, so the HDV format was a much better standard compared to standard MiniDV.

The HDV video format was jointly developed by JVC, Sharp Canon, and Sony and was released in 2003.
